Skin issues like rosacea can happen to anyone. According to the British Journal of Dermatology, more than 415 million people in the world suffer from this chronic inflammatory skin condition. So, it’s no surprise some of our most beloved celebrities have it as well. Some have been public about their struggle while others keep it well hidden.

One of the most visible, outspoken celebrities with rosacea is Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon. Though, this diagnosis wasn’t something she had known all along. As she tells the Rosacea Review, “Up until five years ago, I had no idea why my skin would get so red,” the 46-year-old actress said. “I thought it was just because of my fair complexion. The problem was, it never really went away.”

With the help of a dermatologist, she created a skin care routine to fight back against her subtype 1 rosacea. She replaced harsh scrubs and astringents with a gentle routine and has learned to avoid her rosacea triggers: spicy foods, sun exposure, and red wine.

Red wine may also be a trigger for Grammy Award-winner, Sam Smith, who suffers from rosacea and claims to love French reds (who doesn’t). Alcohol, particularly red wine, is one of the major triggers for rosacea flare-ups.

Television personality and celebrity chef, Lisa Faulkner, has to avoid rosacea triggers including spicy foods and Champagne. One way she avoids flare-ups is through stress management, another major trigger. Acupuncture is her zen treatment of choice.

Like Nixon, Hollywood mainstay, Cameron Diaz, previously used harsh exfoliants on her subtype 2 rosacea. Combined with a less than healthy diet, she battled acne and rosacea for some time before getting both under control with clean eating, a gentle skincare routine with SPF, and help from her aesthetician, Christopher Watt. “She’s conscious of it and goes to great measures to handle and correct it,” he told New Beauty. “I regularly do microdermabrasion on her, with a lactic acid peel. And she likes oxygen facials, too. I also put her under a blue LED light to lessen breakouts and do microcurrent work to tighten and tone.”

Beyond these well-known faces, there are a number of high-profile personalities that are said to have rosacea. Here are some others you may recognize:

  • Bill Clinton
  • Renée Zellweger
  • Alex Ferguson
  • Prince William
  • Dita Von Teese
  • Lena Dunham
  • Naomi Watts
  • Brie Larson
